Get to know Pain Management Specialist and Anesthesiologist Dr. James North, who serves patients in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Dr. North is a board-certified pain management specialist and anesthesiologist whose expertise include ketamine therapy, advanced interventional pain therapies, and neuromodulation, with a focus in complex spinal cord stimulation cases. At present, he is in practice at Carolina’s Pain Institute in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. As an Assistant Professor at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, Dr. North trains anesthesia residents and pain medicine fellows. James M. North, MD, attended the University of Texas McGovern Medical School at Houston in Houston, TX, and received his medical degree and induction into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 2000. Then, he served his internship at the University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine in Honolulu, HI (2000-2001), followed by his residency in anesthesiology at Wake Forest University Baptist Health in Winston Salem, NC (2001-2004). In addition, he completed his fellowship training in pain management at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center (2004-2005). Dr. North received board certification in anesthesiology from the American Board of Anesthesiology. He is on the Board of the Pain Society of the Carolinas and the Sceptor Pain Foundation and remains a member of the World Institute of Pain.
